Public Image Ltd. (PIL), abbreviazione di Public Image Limited, è un gruppo musicale britannico formatosi a Londra nel 1978 dal cantante e frontman John Lydon, meglio noto come Johnny Rotten per il suo periodo nei Sex Pistols. Dopo lo scioglimento dei Pistols, Lydon decise di fondare PIL con l'obiettivo di esplorare nuovi territori musicali, abbandonando la rabbia punk in favore di un sound più sperimentale e introspettivo.
