Public Image Ltd. (PIL), Abkürzung für Public Image Limited, ist eine britische Musikgruppe, die 1978 in London von dem Sänger und Frontmann John Lydon gegründet wurde, der als Johnny Rotten durch seine Zeit bei den Sex Pistols bekannt war. Nach der Auflösung der Pistols beschloss Lydon, PIL zu gründen, um neue musikalische Gebiete zu erkunden und die Punk-Wut gegen einen experimentelleren und introvertierteren Sound einzutauschen.
