Band of Skulls ist eine britische Musikgruppe, die 2008 von Russell Marsden (Gitarre, Gesang), Emma Richardson (Bass, Gesang) und Matt Hayward (Schlagzeug) gegründet wurde. Die drei lernten sich an der Universität kennen und spielten zunächst in Nachtclubs in der Gegend von London. Ursprünglich nannten sie sich Fleeing New York, änderten aber im November 2008 ihren Namen in Band of Skulls. Ihr Debütalbum *Baby Darling Doll Face Honey* wurde von Shangri-La Music veröffentlicht und am 6. März 2009 exklusiv über iTunes veröffentlicht, gefolgt von einer allgemeinen Veröffentlichung am 20. März. Der Song *I Know What I Am* wurde zum kostenlosen Single of the Week von iTunes gewählt, um den digitalen Release zu begleiten. Das Lied wurde auch in die Soundtrack einer Fernsehserie aufgenommen; es ist der sechste Track auf *Friday Night Lights, Volume 2*, das am 4. Mai 2010 veröffentlicht wurde. Der Band-Single *Friends*, der aus *Baby Darling Doll Face Honey* stammt, wurde im November 2009 in den Soundtrack von *The Twilight Saga: New Moon* aufgenommen. Am 23. März 2010 veröffentlichte Band of Skulls das EP *Friends*, das die Studioversion von *Friends*, eine Live-Version und ein Musikvideo des Songs enthält.
