Sir George Ivan Morrison, bekannt als Van Morrison, ist ein nordirischer Sänger-Songwriter, Multiinstrumentalist und Texter, geboren in Belfast im Jahr 1945. Als einer der einflussreichsten Künstler der populären Musik des 20. Jahrhunderts hat Morrison verschiedene Musikstile durchlaufen, vom Folkrock über Jazz bis hin zu Blues und Soul. Seine Karriere, die in den 1960er Jahren mit Them begann, brachte ihm internationale Bekanntheit mit Alben wie "Astral Weeks" (1968), das als Meisterwerk des Psychedelic-Genres gilt, und "Moondance" (1970), das ihn zum beliebtesten Songwriter der Welt machte. Morrison ist bekannt für seine kraftvolle und einzigartige Stimme, seine eingängigen Melodien und seine poetischen Texte, die oft von dem Alltagsleben, Liebe und Spiritualität inspiriert sind.
