Anathema è una band inglese di Liverpool, formatasi nel 1990. Considerati pionieri del genere death/doom metal, hanno contribuito a definire il suono gotico metal degli anni '90 con album come "The Crestfallen" e "Serenitas". A partire dall'album "Eternity" (2001), la band ha intrapreso una svolta musicale verso un sound più melodico e atmosferico, influenzato dal progressive rock.
