Luther Ronzoni Vandross Jr., bekannt einfach als Luther Vandross, war ein amerikanischer Sänger und Songwriter, geboren in New York City am 20. April 1951. Als einer der größten Soul-Künstler aller Zeiten dominierte Vandross die Musikcharts der 1980er und 1990er Jahre mit seiner kraftvollen Stimme und unwiderstehlichen Melodien. Er begann seine Karriere als Studiomusiker für Künstler wie David Bowie und Chaka Khan, bevor er 1981 sein Debütalbum veröffentlichte. Sein Gesangsstil, geprägt von einem tiefen Tonumfang und einer makellosen Technik, beeinflusste Generationen von Soul-Sängern. Zu seinen bekanntesten Songs gehören "Never Too Much", "Here and Now" und "A House Is Not a Home".
