Avantasia è un progetto musicale di power metal e symphonic metal creato da Tobias Sammet, vocalist e frontman del gruppo power metal Edguy. Il nome del progetto, un portmanteau delle parole 'avalon' e 'fantasia', descrive «un mondo al di là dell'immaginazione umana» (citazione dal booklet).
