The Cars waren eine amerikanische Rock/New-Wave-Band, die 1976 in Boston gegründet wurde. Die Gruppe wurde von dem Sänger Ric Ocasek angeführt und erreichte in den 1980er Jahren mit einem Sound, der durch Synthesizer, eingängige Gitar riffs und ironische sowie nachdenkliche Texte gekennzeichnet war, große Bekanntheit.
