Adagio è un gruppo musicale francese di symphonic progressive metal. Fondato da Stephan Forte, il chitarrista della band, Adagio si distingue per la sua musica caratterizzata da una precisa tecnica, orchestrali dense e cupe, riff di chitarra complessi e una sezione ritmica potente. Con l'album di studio del 2006 *Dominate*, il gruppo ha introdotto growl death metal nel proprio sound. Il quarto album in studio, *Archangels in Black*, è stato completato con pre-produzione e mastering nell'autunno 2008. L'album presenta nove brani più un bonus track giapponese. Secondo il sito web della band, le composizioni sono "l'estremo tra metal melodico ed estremo", e possono essere considerate una versione più brutale di *Underworld*. *Archangels in Black* è stato pubblicato a febbraio 2009 tramite Listenable Records.
