Biografia

The Weeknd, eigentlich Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, ist ein kanadischer Sänger, Songwriter, Musikproduzent und Schauspieler, der 1990 in Toronto geboren wurde. Sein Musikstil, geprägt von düsterem Pop, R and B und Synthwave-Atmosphären, eroberte schnell die Aufmerksamkeit des internationalen Publikums. Seine Karriere startete 2009 mit dem Veröffentlichen von Mixtapes online, wobei das Lied "What You Need" viral ging. 2011 folgte sein offizielles Debüt mit dem Album "House of Balloons", gefolgt von zwei weiteren erfolgreichen Alben: "Thursday" (2013) und "Echoes of Silence" (2013). 2015 erreichte The Weeknd mit dem Album "Beauty Behind the Madness" die Spitze der US-Charts und festigte seinen Status als globaler Star. Zu seinen bekanntesten Songs gehören "Starboy", "Blinding Lights" und "Can't Feel My Face". Neben der Musik wirkte The Weeknd in Filmen wie "Uncut Gems" (2019) und Fernsehserien wie "The Idol" (2023) mit.
