We been tryna tell the world how my people suffer
But it’s goin’ in one ear and out the other
I grew up in a place where you don’t see too many prosper
I wanted to be like the drug dealers and the robbers
Fast cars and the jewellery’ll make you ponder
Cost too much to be a doctor, go get a chopper
And that could make you lose your mind, it’ll make you a monster
It never was a real option to be a rockstar
Genies and them shootin’ stars nowhere to be found
But temptation’s like your cousin ‘cause he’s always been around
Never took that bible anywhere, it’s always in the house
Never took that bible anywhere, it’s always in the house (Huh)
Genies and them shootin’ stars nowhere to be found
But temptation’s like your cousin ‘cause he’s always been around
Never took that bible anywhere, it’s always in the house
Never took that bible anywhere, it’s always in the house
I need a second, maybe a minute
Although I defended every decision
Am I a menace?
Do I need balance?
Am I just desperate, as a recessive?
I need to decide, left or to the right
If I pay the tithe, will it even change my life?
Why every single day I feel like life is just a game and I don’t even wanna play
(Run it)
Running the race (Run it)
Running in place (Run it)
You’re running from cages (Run it)
We're running from fame (Run it)
With the movers and shakers (Run it)
They were very persuasive (Run it)
Begging and taking (Run it)
Shaking that bacon (Run it)
Oh it's pity their race (Run it)
That's how they raise them (Run it)
And nobody running for president (Run it)
These young niggas running your residence (Run it)
Take what they want in your residence (Run it)
Do you have a gun in your residence? (Run it)
Protect all you love in your residence (Run it)
Oh yeah
Genies and them shootin’ stars nowhere to be found
But temptation’s like your cousin ‘cause he’s always been around
Never took that bible anywhere, it’s always in the house
Never took that bible anywhere, it’s always in the house (Huh)
Genies and them shootin’ stars nowhere to be found
But temptation’s like your cousin ‘cause he’s always been around
Never took that bible anywhere, it’s always in the house
Never took that bible anywhere, it’s always in the house
