Texas è una rock band scozzese proveniente da Bearsden, Glasgow. Fondata nel 1986 da Johnny McElhone (ex Altered Images e Hipsway), il gruppo ha esordito dal vivo a marzo del 1988 all'Università di Dundee in Scozia. Il nome deriva dal film del 1984 *Paris, Texas* di Wim Wenders. Il loro album di debutto, *Southside*, è uscito nel 1989 insieme al singolo d'esordio «I Don't Want a Lover», un successo mondiale che ha raggiunto la posizione numero 8 nella classifica britannica e posizioni elevate in tutta Europa. *Southside* ha debuttato al numero 3 nel Regno Unito e al numero 88 nella Billboard 200 americana.
