Protest the Hero ist eine kanadische Band aus dem Genre Progressive Metal/Mathcore aus Whitby, Ontario. Die Band wurde 1999 gegründet und die Mitglieder haben seitdem ihre Formation beibehalten. Ursprünglich nannten sie sich Happy Go Lucky, änderten aber ihren Namen, bevor sie ihre erste EP *A Calculated Use of Sound* veröffentlichten, gefolgt von ihrem Debütalbum *Kezia*, das vom unabhängigen Label Underground Operations veröffentlicht wurde.
