Frightened Rabbit ist eine schottische Indie-Rock-Band, die 2003 von Scott Hutchison (Gesang, Gitarre), Billy Kennedy (Gitarre) und Grant Hutchison (Schlagzeug) gegründet wurde. Ursprünglich ein Soloprojekt von Scott, stammt der Name Frightened Rabbit vom Titel eines Songs, den er während seines Studiums schrieb. Die frühen Aufnahmen waren Demos, die mit einem Tascam 4-Track-Recorder erstellt wurden und zwar einen lo-fi Sound hatten, aber bereits Talent und Persönlichkeit zeigten. Im Laufe der Jahre entwickelte sich die Formation zu einem Trio und der Sound reifte mit einer poporientierteren Herangehensweise, behielt aber gleichzeitig die emotionale Intensität des Indie Rocks bei. Zu den repräsentativen Stücken gehören: "The Modern Leper", "Swim Until You Can't See Land" und "My Backwards Walk". Das Debütalbum "Sing the Greener Grass" erschien 2006, gefolgt von weiteren kritisch gefeierten Werken wie "Midnight Organ Fight" (2008) und "The Winter of Mixed Drinks" (2010). Die Band arbeitete mit Künstlern wie The National und Belle and Sebastian zusammen. Im Jahr 2016 verstarb der Frontmann Scott Hutchison tragisch, was eine Lücke im Indie-Musik-Spektrum hinterließ.
