Eagles of Death Metal sind eine amerikanische Garage-Rock-Band, die 1998 in Palm Desert, Kalifornien, von Jesse Hughes und Josh Homme gegründet wurde. Trotz des Namens sind Eagles of Death Metal keine Death-Metal-Band. Die Geschichte hinter dem Namen stammt von einem Freund, der Josh Homme das Death-Metal-Genre vorstellen wollte. Als er ein Lied der polnischen Band Vader spielte und behauptete, es sei Death Metal, nannte Homme sie „Eagles of Death Metal“. Nachdem er diese Phrase gehört hatte, fragte er sich, wie eine Mischung aus Eagles und einer Death-Metal-Band klingen würde.
