Ronnie James Dio, geboren Ronald James Padavona (10. Juli 1942 – 16. Mai 2010), war ein US-amerikanischer Sänger und Songwriter von internationalem Ruf. Als einer der größten Heavy-Metal-Sänger aller Zeiten hinterließ Dio seinen unverwechselbaren Stempel auf der Rockmusik mit seiner kraftvollen und charakteristischen Stimme, oft epischen Texten und seinem theatralischen Bühnenauftritt. Seine Karriere begann in den 1960er Jahren mit Bands wie The Elves und Elf, bevor er als Sänger von Rainbow (1975-1978) und Black Sabbath (1979-1982) internationale Bekanntheit erlangte. Nach seinem Ausstieg aus der britischen Band gründete Dio seine eigene Band, Dio, die in den 1980er Jahren mit Alben wie *Holy Diver* (1983), *The Last in Line* (1984) und *Sacred Heart* (1985) großen Erfolg feierte.
