Keep of Kalessin ist eine norwegische Extreme-Metal-Band aus Trondheim, die 1993 gegründet wurde. Im Laufe ihrer Geschichte hat die Band mehrere Besetzungen erlebt. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung bestand aus Ghash als Sänger, Obsidian C. an Gitarre und Keyboard, Warach am Bass und Vyl am Schlagzeug. In dieser Zeit veröffentlichten sie zwei Alben: *Through Times of War* (1997) und *Agnen: A Journey Through the Dark* (1999), bevor sie sich auflösten. Obsidian C. tourte anschließend mit Satyricon, reaktivierte aber 2003 den Namen Keep of Kalessin für eine EP namens *Reclaim*. 2006 bildete er die Band erneut mit einer neuen Besetzung und veröffentlichte das dritte Studioalbum *Armada*. Sie touren Anfang 2008 mit Behemoth und Dimmu Borgir. Ihr viertes Album *Kolossus* wurde am 6. Juni 2008 veröffentlicht. Der Name der Band stammt aus Ursulas K. Le Guin's *Earthsea*-Buchreihe, in der Kalessin der Name des Archdrachen ist, der die Welt von Earthsea trägt.
