Mac McCaughan è un musicista americano, noto per essere il frontman e chitarrista della band indie rock Superchunk, attiva dal 1989. Oltre a questo progetto principale, ha fondato nel 1993 Portastatic, un'altra formazione musicale che esplora sonorità più introspettive e sperimentali. McCaughan è considerato una figura chiave nella scena indie americana degli anni '90, influenzando generazioni di musicisti con il suo approccio diretto e energico alla musica. Superchunk ha pubblicato numerosi album di successo, tra cui "No Pocky for Kitty" (1993), "Foolish" (1994) e "Here's to Shutting Up" (2001).
