Die Beta Band sind eine schottische Band, die 1996 in Glasgow gegründet wurde. Die Gruppe bestand aus Steve Mason (Gesang, Gitarre), John Maclean (Gitarre, Keyboard), Robin Jones (Bass) und Douglas McNicol (Schlagzeug). Sie erlangten schnell internationale Bekanntheit für ihren einzigartigen Sound, der als „Folktronica“ bezeichnet wird. Dieses originelle Genre kombiniert Elemente des traditionellen schottischen Folks mit Elektronik, Rock, Trip Hop und experimentellen Klangwelten.
