Eric Lynn Wright, besser bekannt als Eazy-E, war ein amerikanischer Rapper und Musikproduzent, der als einer der Pioniere des Gangsta Rap gilt. Geboren wurde er 1964 in Compton, Kalifornien. 1986 gründete Eazy-E die Gruppe N.W.A (Niggaz Wit Attitudes) mit Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren und DJ Yella. Die Gruppe erlangte schnell Bekanntheit durch ihre Songs, die das harte und gewalttätige Leben der Compton Community schilderten und Themen wie Polizeigewalt, Rassismus und Armut aufgriffen. Zu den bekanntesten Tracks des N.W.A gehören «Fuck tha Police», «Straight Outta Compton» und «Express Yourself». Eazy-E zeichnete sich durch seinen aggressiven Flow und seine scharfen Texte aus und wurde zu einer Ikone der Hip-Hop-Kultur der 1990er Jahre. 1987 gründete er Ruthless Records, die zu einem der wichtigsten Rap-Labels aufstieg. Trotz seines Erfolgs starb Eazy-E 1995 an einer AIDS-Infektion und hinterließ ein bleibendes Erbe in der Hip-Hop-Musik.
