The Academy Is... waren eine amerikanische Rockband aus Barrington, Illinois, einem Vorort von Chicago. Sie spielten Alternative Rock und Emo-Pop. Die Band wurde 2003 gegründet und nannte sich zunächst „The Academy“. Im Jahr 2004 fügten sie den Zusatz „Is…“ hinzu, um Rechtsstreitigkeiten mit anderen Bands zu vermeiden. Die Originalbesetzung bestand aus William Beckett (Gesang), Andy Mrotek (Gitarre), Adam Siska (Bass) und Mike Carden (Schlagzeug). 2005 erschien ihr Debütalbum „Almost Here“, gefolgt von „Santi“ im Jahr 2007. Die Band ist bekannt für ihren energiegeladenen und melodischen Sound, der vom Emo-Rock und Pop-Punk beeinflusst wurde. Zu ihren bekanntesten Songs gehören „The Phrase That Pays“, „Slow Down“ und „Heartbeat“. The Academy Is… löste sich 2011 auf, fand aber 2015 für ein Konzert beim Riot Fest in Chicago wieder zusammen.
