Pere Ubu ist eine amerikanische experimentelle Rockband, die 1975 in Cleveland, Ohio, gegründet wurde. Gegründet von dem Sänger David Thomas und dem Gitarristen Peter Laughner, erfuhr die Gruppe mehrere Veränderungen der ursprünglichen Besetzung, die auch Allen Ravenstine, Scott Krauss (Schlagzeug) und Tony Maimone (Bass) umfasste. Laughner verließ die Band 1976, um durch Tom Herman ersetzt zu werden. Pere Ubu ist bekannt für ihren experimentellen und provokanten Sound, der Elemente von Rock, Punk, Avantgarde und Noise verbindet. Ihre Musik zeichnet sich durch dunkle und surreale Texte aus, oft inspiriert von der amerikanischen Popkultur und dem Exploitation-Kino.
