Can you light my way from your home up above?
Can you show me the way back to the ones I dearly love?
At the end of my journey, when at last my spirit's free
When you're looking down from heaven, won't you light the way for me?
Oh, the road is dark and rocky as I stumble through the night
I can't see the path before me, though I try with all my might
How I wish that you were here to help me make it through the day
When you're looking down from heaven, won't you help me find a way?
(Light the way) At last I'm on my way, if you could light the path up for me
(So I can see) If you could shine a light, I'd see the pearly gates by morning
(The way to flee) Help me find a way so I can set my spirit free
When you're looking down from heaven, won't you light the way for me?
Well, my clothes are awful ragged and my shoes are thin and worn
And I'm ready to transcend the place where I was raised and born
It don't bother me at all to think about the day I'll leave
And I'll be upon my way just as long as I can see
Can you light my way from your home up above?
Can you show me the way back to the ones I dearly love?
At the end of my journey, when at last my spirit's free
When you're looking down from heaven, won't you light the way for me?
(Light the way) At last I'm on my way, if you could light the path up for me
(So I can see) If you could shine a light, I'd see the pearly gates by morning
(The way to flee) Help me find a way so I can set my spirit free
When you're looking down from heaven, won't you light the way for me?
When you're looking down from heaven, won't you light the way for me?
