Refused è una storica band svedese di hardcore punk originaria di Umeå, formatasi nel 1991. Il gruppo ha pubblicato cinque EP e tre album prima dello scioglimento avvenuto nel 1998. Il loro capolavoro, *The Shape of Punk to Come*, è stato inserito al numero 13 nella lista dei 50 Album Più Importanti di Sempre di Kerrang!. La band è nota per il suo sound aggressivo e politico, influenzato dal hardcore punk, dall'anarchismo e dalla musica noise. *The Shape of Punk to Come* è considerato un album fondamentale del genere post-hardcore, anticipando sonorità che avrebbero caratterizzato gruppi successivi come At the Drive-In e The Dillinger Escape Plan.
