The Sword è un gruppo musicale statunitense di stoner metal formatosi ad Austin, Texas nel 2003. Il nucleo fondante del gruppo è costituito da J.D. Cronise (voce, chitarra), che aveva già esperienza con la band Those Peabodys. Dopo aver selezionato diversi musicisti, ha trovato l'assetto definitivo con Kyle Shutt alla chitarra ritmica, Bryan Richie al basso e Trivett Wingo alla batteria.
