Cage the Elephant ist eine amerikanische Rockband aus Bowling Green, Kentucky. Ursprünglich bekannt als „Perfect Confusion“, erlangten sie ihren Durchbruch mit dem Single „Ain't No Rest for the Wicked“, der Platz 32 in den britischen Singlecharts erreichte und im Videospiel Borderlands von Gearbox Software zu hören war. Nach einem Auftritt beim South by Southwest Music Festival 2007 unterschrieben sie bei EMI Records und zogen nach London, England. Ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum wurde am 23. Juni 2008 veröffentlicht und erhielt überwiegend positive Kritiken. Cage the Elephant unterstützte The Pigeon Detectives Anfang 2008 und Silversun Pickups und Manchester Orchestra im Jahr 2009. Der Single „Ain't No Rest For the Wicked“ war die kostenlose Single der Woche auf iTunes für die Woche vom 12. April 2009. Die Gruppe trat im Juli 2009 in The Late Show mit David Letterman auf. Im Jahr 2007 debütierten sie beim Lollapalooza in Chicago und kehrten 2009 zurück, sowie am 30. August 2009 beim Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in San Francisco. Vor ihrem Rückkehr zum Lollapalooza spielte die Band zweimal beim Bonnaroo Music Festival, im Juni 2007 und 2009. Laut einem Artikel vom Februar 2010 in The Post and Courier würde Cage the Elephant ihr zweites Album *Computer Says Move* Ende 2010 veröffentlichen. Sie veröffentlichten am 10. November 2009 den Single „Back Against the Wall“ mit dem Song „Monkey Disease“.
