Not even fifteen minutes later
I'm still walking down the street,
When I saw a shadow of a man creep out of sight.
And then he sweeps up from behind
And puts a gun up to my head,
He made it clear he wasn't looking for a fight.

But if you try to make a move I won't think twice."
I go like "You can have my cash
But first you know I got to ask
What made you want to live this kind of life?"

Now a couple hours have passed
And I was sitting at my house,
The day was winding down and coming to an end.
So I turned on the TV
And flipped it over to the news,
And what I saw I almost couldn't comprehend.
I saw a preacher man in cuffs he'd taken money from the church,
He stuffed his bank account with righteous dollar bills.
But even still I can't say much
Because I know we're all the same,

Cage the Elephant ist eine amerikanische Rockband aus Bowling Green, Kentucky. Ursprünglich bekannt als „Perfect Confusion“, erlangten sie ihren Durchbruch mit dem Single „Ain't No Rest for the Wicked“, der Platz 32 in den britischen Singlecharts erreichte und im Videospiel Borderlands von Gearbox Software zu hören war. Nach einem Auftritt beim South by Southwest Music Festival 2007 unterschrieben sie bei EMI Records und zogen nach London, England. Ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum wurde am 23. Juni 2008 veröffentlicht und erhielt überwiegend positive Kritiken. Cage the Elephant unterstützte The Pigeon Detectives Anfang 2008 und Silversun Pickups und Manchester Orchestra im Jahr 2009. Der Single „Ain't No Rest For the Wicked“ war die kostenlose Single der Woche auf iTunes für die Woche vom 12. April 2009. Die Gruppe trat im Juli 2009 in The Late Show mit David Letterman auf. November 2009 den Single „Back Against the Wall“ mit dem Song „Monkey Disease“.
