The Rasmus sind eine finnische Alternative-Rock-Band, die 1994 in Helsinki gegründet wurde. Ursprünglich unter dem Namen Rasmus bekannt, änderte die Band ihren Namen bei der Unterzeichnung eines Vertrags mit dem schwedischen Plattenlabel Playground. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung bestand aus Lauri Ylönen (Gesang), Pauli Rantasalmi (Gitarre), Eero Heinonen (Bass) und Jarno Lahti (Schlagzeug). Ihr Musikstil, geprägt von Dark-Rock-Sounds und eingängigen Melodien, hat ihnen internationale Anerkennung eingebracht. Der Durchbruch gelang 2001 mit dem Album *Into*, das die finnischen Charts anführte und den Hit *In the Shadows* enthielt, der zu einem Hymne für Alternative-Rock-Fans wurde. Weitere wichtige Alben sind *Dead Letters* (2003) und *Black Roses* (2008). The Rasmus haben mit Künstlern wie HIM und Apocalyptica zusammengearbeitet und trugen zur Definition der finnischen Musikszene der 2000er Jahre bei. Zu ihren bekanntesten Songs gehören *In the Shadows*, *Guilty*, *Right Hand Stand* und *The World*.
