Barathrum è una band finlandese di black doom originaria di Kuopio, trasferitasi successivamente ad Helsinki. Il nome del gruppo è un riferimento al baratro, un abisso profondo e oscuro che rappresenta l'essenza della loro musica. I primi acronimi dei loro album in studio formano la frase "HEIL SOVA", un omaggio al fondatore e principale compositore Demonos Sova, completando il piano originale di otto album. Nonostante questo, sono circolate voci riguardo a un nuovo disco dopo l'uscita di "Anno Aspera". Le voci si sono rivelate vere, quindi Barathrum tornerà in studio per registrare un nuovo album.
