Joan Anita Barbara Armatrading (geboren am 9. Dezember 1950) ist eine britische Singer-Songwriterin und Gitarristin jamaikanischer Abstammung. Sie gilt als eine der einflussreichsten Folk-Rock-Künstlerinnen und hat weltweit über 20 Millionen Platten verkauft. Ihre Musik zeichnet sich durch eingängige Melodien, nachdenkliche Texte und eine kraftvolle Gesangsdarbietung aus. Armatrading begann ihre Karriere in den 1970er Jahren mit ihrem Debütalbum "Whatever's Written" (1972), das moderaten Erfolg erzielte.
