Cirith Ungol è stata una band heavy metal californiana formatasi nel 1972 e sciolta nel maggio 1992. Il gruppo ha attinto a influenze provenienti da altri gruppi metal come Black Sabbath e Thin Lizzy, oltre che dagli Iggy and the Stooges. Il loro album di debutto, *Frost and Fire*, era più vicino ad un ibrido tra hard rock e heavy metal degli anni '70 con canzoni scritte dal bassista e chitarrista Greg Lindstrom e dal batterista Robert Garven.
