At the Gates war eine melodisch-deathmetal Band aus Gothenburg, Schweden und gilt als einer der wichtigsten Vorreiter des Gothenburg Death Metal Sounds. Aktiv von 1990 bis 1996, reformierte sich die Band 2007 für eine Reunion Tour. Das letzte Konzert fand am 21. September 2008 in Athen statt. Als Pioniere des melodischen Death Metals beeinflussten At the Gates zahlreiche nachfolgende Bands mit ihrem Sound, der schnelle Riffs und eingängige Melodien kombiniert, die oft düstere und nachdenkliche Texte begleiten. Zu den bekanntesten Songs gehören "Blinded by Fear", "The Mirror" und "Slaughter of the Soul".
