Formed in 2000 in Orlando, Florida, Trivium are a metalcore band who came to prominence in 2003 with the release of their debut album Ember to Inferno. Their second album Ascendancy was exposed to a wider audience when a track from the album "Washing Away Me in the Tides" was used in the film Underworld: Evolution in 2006. Later on the band released The Crusade (2006) which spent time in the charts in both the US (peaking at 25) and UK (peaking at 7) and was certified sliver in the UK after sales of 60,000 in one day. But the album generated controversy among fans who claimed that the band had abandoned their metalcore sound in favour of the more mainstream thrash metal or alternative metal sound reminiscent of Metallica.
