Blackstreet ist eine amerikanische R and B-Gruppe, die 1991 von Thomas R. Taliaferro Jr. und Teddy Riley gegründet wurde, dem Erfinder des New Jack Swing, der für seine Arbeit als Mitglied von Guy bekannt ist. Chauncey Hannibal und Levon Little wurden unter Vertrag mit Thomas Taliaferro genommen und in das, was Blackstreet werden sollte, integriert, zusammen mit Joseph Stonestreet, mit der Beteiligung von Teddy Riley. Die aktuellen Mitglieder sind Teddy Riley, Chauncey Hannibal, Dave Hollister, Mark Middleton und Eric Williams. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung von Blackstreet bestand aus Teddy Riley, Chauncey Hannibal, Levi Little und Joseph Stonestreet. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung veröffentlichte 1993 ihre erste Single für den Soundtrack des Films CB4 mit Chris Rock unter dem Titel "Baby Be Mine", wobei Joseph Stonestreet als Lead-Sänger zu hören ist, produziert von Teddy Riley und geschrieben von Teddy Riley und Joseph Stonestreet. Stonestreet verließ die Gruppe jedoch kurz nach der Veröffentlichung des Singles aufgrund persönlicher Differenzen mit Riley und wurde durch Dave Hollister ersetzt.
