Throbbing Gristle è stato un gruppo musicale britannico pionieristico dell'industrial music, attivo dal 1975 al 1981. Fondato a Londra da Genesis P-Orridge, Peter Christopherson, Chris Carter e Cosey Fanni Tutti (proveniente dal gruppo d'arte COUM Transmissions), Throbbing Gristle ha rivoluzionato il panorama musicale con un suono aggressivo, sperimentale e provocatorio che incorporava elementi di noise, elettronica, musica classica e performance teatrale. Il loro lavoro, spesso controverso per la sua violenza esplicita e le tematiche dark, ha influenzato profondamente generi come l'industrial metal, il gothic rock e l'EBM.
