Donny Edward Hathaway (1945-1979) è stato un leggendario cantante e pianista soul americano. Nato a Chicago, Illinois, Hathaway ha dimostrato un talento musicale precoce, studiando pianoforte classico e gospel fin dall'infanzia. La sua carriera musicale è iniziata negli anni '60 con la formazione di gruppi gospel e la partecipazione a sessioni di registrazione per altri artisti.
