Carlos Varela (nato l'11 aprile 1963) è un cantautore cubano di nuova trova, spesso definito "il Bob Dylan di Cuba". Negli anni '80 si unì al movimento musicale della Nueva Trova, un genere musicale politico e poetico legato alla Rivoluzione cubana. Varela è noto per le sue canzoni che trattano temi sociali, politici e personali con una forte componente di critica sociale. La sua musica è caratterizzata da melodie malinconiche e testi introspettivi, spesso accompagnati da chitarre acustiche e percussioni tradizionali cubane. Tra i suoi brani più famosi figurano "El hombre que se fue", "La vida es un sueño" e "Cuba va".
