Major Lance (geboren als Lance Alan Wayne, 1938 – 2004) war ein amerikanischer Soul- und R and B-Sänger und Musiker. Geboren in Chicago, Illinois, begann er seine musikalische Karriere in den 1950er Jahren als Mitglied der Gruppe The Major Lancers. 1960 unterschrieb er bei Chess Records und erreichte 1962 mit dem Single "The Monkey Time" nationalen Erfolg. Der Song wurde ein internationaler Hit und erreichte Platz 4 der Billboard Hot 100-Charts. Lance nahm bis 1965 für Chess Records auf und veröffentlichte weitere Hits wie "Hey Little Girl", "Baby Don't You Do It" und "You Can Make Me Feel Good". Nach seinem Abschied von Chess Records arbeitete Lance mit verschiedenen Plattenlabels zusammen, erreichte aber nicht mehr den gleichen Erfolg. Er starb 2004 in Chicago.
