Biografia

Gli XTC sono stati un gruppo di rock alternativo inglese formatosi a Swindon nel 1972. Guidato da Andy Partridge e Colin Moulding, membri fondatori e principali compositori dei brani, il gruppo guadagnò una certa popolarità durante l'ascesa del punk e della new wave negli anni settanta, eseguendo in seguito la loro musica con una varietà di stili che spaziavano dai riff angolari di chitarra alla musica pop organizzata in modo elaborato. In parte perché il gruppo non si adattava alle tendenze contemporanee, ottennero solo sporadici successi commerciali nel Regno Unito e negli Stati Uniti d'America, ma attirarono immediatamente un considerevole seguito come cult band. Da allora sono stati riconosciuti come determinanti per la loro influenza sul Britpop e successivamente sul power pop.
