Chester Arthur Burnett, meglio conosciuto come Howlin' Wolf (White Station, Mississippi, 10 giugno 1910 – Chicago, Illinois, 10 gennaio 1976), è stato un cantante e musicista blues statunitense. Soprannominato «Big Foot» e «Bull Cow» per la sua statura imponente, adottò il nome d'arte Howlin' Wolf alla fine degli anni '20, ispirandosi alle storie sui lupi raccontategli dal nonno o all'omonima canzone del bluesman Funny Papa Smith. Influenzato da artisti come Charlie Patton (che gli insegnò a suonare la chitarra), i Mississippi Sheiks, Tommy Johnson e Jimmie Rodgers, Howlin' Wolf sviluppò uno stile vocale potente e distintivo, caratterizzato da un growl profondo e ipnotico. Sonny Boy Williamson II, che visse per un periodo con lui e sua sorella, gli insegnò a suonare l'armonica.
