Manfred Mann ist ein deutsch-britischer Musiker und Komponist, bekannt als Kopf der gleichnamigen Rockband, die in den 1960er und 1970er Jahren aktiv war. Geboren wurde er 1940 in Lublin, Polen, und zog mit seiner Familie während des Zweiten Weltkriegs nach England. Mit sechs Jahren begann er Klavier zu spielen und studierte am Royal College of Music in London klassische Musik. 1962 gründete er die Manfred Mann, eine Rockband, die in den 1960er Jahren durch Hits wie "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", "Pretty Flamingo" und "Sha La La" großen Erfolg feierte. Die Band zeichnete sich durch eine Fusion aus Blues, Jazz und Pop mit Einflüssen des amerikanischen Rhythm and Blues aus. 1970 löste sich die Gruppe auf, und Manfred Mann verfolgte seine Karriere als Solokünstler, veröffentlichte Alben mit klassischer, jazziger und progressiver Rockmusik. In seiner langen Karriere arbeitete er mit zahlreichen Künstlern zusammen, darunter Elton John, The Rolling Stones und Paul McCartney.
