The Verve waren eine britische Rockband aus Wigan, England, die dem Genre Alternative Rock zuzuordnen ist. Aktiv von 1989 bis 2009 (mit einer kurzen Reunion im Jahr 2019) erlangte die Band internationale Bekanntheit mit ihrem 1997 erschienenen Album *Urban Hymns*, das Hits wie „Bitter Sweet Symphony“, „The Drugs Don't Work“ und „Lucky Man“ enthielt. Die Band zeichnete sich durch einen psychedelischen und atmosphärischen Sound aus, der von Post-Punk und klassischer Musik beeinflusst wurde.
