Earl Rudolph Powell, noto come Bud Powell, è stato un pianista e compositore jazz statunitense considerato uno dei più influenti musicisti del bebop. Nato a New York nel 1924, Powell iniziò a suonare il pianoforte all'età di sette anni. Influenzato da artisti come Art Tatum e Teddy Wilson, sviluppò un stile caratterizzato da virtuosismo tecnico, improvvisazione brillante e melodie memorabili. Nel corso degli anni '40, Powell divenne una figura centrale del bebop, collaborando con musicisti leggendari come Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie e Max Roach. Il suo talento fu riconosciuto anche in Europa, dove si esibì con successo negli anni '50.
