I Pernice Brothers sono un gruppo indie rock formatosi nel 1996 da Joe Pernice dopo lo scioglimento della sua precedente band, gli Scud Mountain Boys. Il nome deriva dal cognome dei fratelli Pernice, che comprendono anche Bob Pernice nella formazione. Il loro album di debutto, *Overcome by Happiness*, è stato pubblicato per Sub Pop nel 1998. Dopo una pausa di tre anni durante la quale Joe Pernice ha registrato sotto il suo nome e come Chappaquiddick Skyline, i Pernice Brothers sono tornati nel 2001 con *The World Won't End*. Dopo aver lasciato Sub Pop, l'album è stato pubblicato sull'etichetta indipendente di Pernice, Ashmont Records, co-fondata con la sua manager di lunga data Joyce Linehan. Nel 2003, Ashmont ha pubblicato *Yours, Mine and Ours*. Dopo un tour nel 2004, il gruppo ha rilasciato il suo primo album dal vivo, *Nobody's Watching/Nobody's Listening*, all'inizio del 2005 e, a giugno dello stesso anno, il loro quarto album in studio, *Discover a Lovelier You*. Il quinto album in studio, *Live a Little*, è uscito nell'ottobre 2006. Nel giugno 2010 è stato pubblicato *Goodbye, Killer*. Tra i brani più rappresentativi del gruppo si possono citare *The World Won't End*, *Discover a Lovelier You* e *Let Me Be Your Man*.
