Philip Parris Lynott (1949-1986) è stato un musicista irlandese considerato uno dei più grandi bassiststi rock di tutti i tempi. Fondatore e frontman del gruppo rock Thin Lizzy, ha contribuito a definire il sound hard rock degli anni '70 con riff memorabili, melodie accattivanti e testi poetici. Nato a Dublino da madre irlandese e padre nigeriano, Lynott affrontò la discriminazione razziale fin dall'infanzia, un tema che spesso emergeva nelle sue canzoni. Il suo stile musicale era influenzato da artisti come Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones e Led Zeppelin, ma Lynott riuscì a creare una sonorità unica per Thin Lizzy, caratterizzata da doppi chitarristi e arrangiamenti orchestrali. Tra i brani più famosi del gruppo ricordiamo "The Boys Are Back in Town", "Jailbreak" e "Whiskey in the Jar".
