Braid ist eine amerikanische Musikgruppe, die 1993 in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois gegründet wurde. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung bildete sich, als Bob Nanna, bereits bekannt für seine Arbeit mit Bob Nanna, eine Anzeige in Maximum Rock n' Roll schaltet. Auf die Anzeige antwortete Roy Ewing, ein Schlagzeuger, der weitere Musiker aus früheren Bands oder Projekten mitbrachte, darunter Todd Bell am Bass und Chris Broach an Gitarre und Gesang. Braid machte sich im Emo-/Post-Hardcore-Bereich einen Namen durch die intensive Energie ihrer Live-Auftritte und die charakteristische Kombination von Gitarren und Gesang von Nanna und Broach. Die Band veröffentlichte mehrere Alben, darunter "The Age of Octet" (1998) und "Frame and Canvas" (2000), die zum Sound des Emo der 1990er Jahre beitrugen. Braid löste sich 2003 auf, kehrte aber 2015 mit dem Album "Mystery of the World" zurück und bewies damit, dass sie immer noch eine einflussreiche und beliebte Band sind.
