David Van Cortlandt Crosby (Los Angeles, 14. August 1941 – Santa Monica, 18. Januar 2023) war ein amerikanischer Sänger-Songwriter und Musiker. Als einer der wichtigsten Vertreter des amerikanischen Folk-Rocks erlangte Crosby internationale Bekanntheit als Gründungsmitglied der Byrds in den 1960er Jahren. Die Band prägte mit Hits wie "Mr. Tambourine Man" und "Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season)" den Sound des Folk Rocks. Nach seiner Zeit bei den Byrds gründete Crosby zusammen mit Stephen Stills und Graham Nash das erfolgreiche Trio Crosby, Stills and Nash. Das Trio veröffentlichte in den 1970er Jahren einige der einflussreichsten Folk-Rock-Alben, darunter "Déjà Vu" (1970) und "4 Way Street" (1971), die durch perfekte Gesangsharmonien und nachdenkliche Texte gekennzeichnet waren.
