Youssou N'Dour ist ein senegalesischer Sänger, Musiker und Politiker, geboren in Dakar im Jahr 1959. Als einer der größten afrikanischen Künstler aller Zeiten hat N'Dour internationale Bekanntheit durch seine Musik erlangt, die traditionelle afrikanische Musiktrends mit Pop- und World Music Einflüssen verbindet. Seine Karriere begann in den 1970er Jahren als Sänger in einer traditionellen senegalesischen Musikband, bevor er in den 1980er Jahren als Solokünstler mit Alben wie "Set" (1984) und "Tumba" (1988) erfolgreich wurde.
