These Arms Are Snakes sono stati un quartetto di progressive/post-hardcore originario di Seattle, attivo dal 2002 al 2010 sotto l'etichetta Suicide Squeeze Records. La band ha visto la partecipazione di ex membri di Botch, Nineironspitfire e Kill Sadie (di Minneapolis). Il batterista e produttore Chris Common si è unito dopo la registrazione dell'album d'esordio *Oxeneers or the Lion Sleeps When Its Antelope Go Home*. These Arms Are Snakes hanno condiviso il palco con band come Minus the Bear, Big Business, Mastodon, Cursive, The Blood Brothers, Engine Down, Hot Water Music, Isis, Pelican, Chiodos e Against Me!. Tra i collaboratori per l'album *Oxeneers or the Lion Sleeps When Its Antelope Go Home* figurano membri di Minus the Bear, Playing Enemy e The Blood Brothers. La band era nota per i suoi intensi concerti, spesso caratterizzati da Steve Snere che faceva crowd surfing e passava gran parte del tempo sul palco tra il pubblico.
