Brandtson ist eine Indie-Rock-Band, die 1996 in Cleveland, Ohio gegründet wurde. Ursprünglich war es ein Nebenprojekt von Myk Porter, dem Sänger der christlichen Hardcore-Band Six Feet Deep. Porter holte seinen Freund Jared Jolley als Schlagzeuger ins Boot. Kurz darauf löste sich Six Feet Deep auf und Brandtson wurde mit Matt Traxler (ebenfalls aus Six Feet Deep) an der Gitarre und John Sayre am Bass zu einer Vollzeitband. Ihre erste Veröffentlichung, *Letterbox*, erschien auf Traxlers unabhängigem Label Steadfast Records und wurde später von Deep Elm Records neu veröffentlicht. Die Band veröffentlichte daraufhin die Single *Let's Call It A Day* bei Velvet Blue Music und hatte auch einen Song auf der Compilation *Volume Two of the Emo Diaries*. 1999 brachte Deep Elm *Fallen Star Collection* heraus, gefolgt vom EP *Trying to Figure Each Other Out* im Jahr 2000. Weitere Veröffentlichungen folgten und es gab einen Wechsel zu The Militia Group für die Veröffentlichung des Albums *Send Us a Signal* im Jahr 2004. Im Laufe dieser Jahre tourte die Band durch Nordamerika, Europa, Japan, Singapur und Hongkong. Sayre verließ die Band 2005 und wurde durch Adam Boose von Furnace St. ersetzt, der dem Sound der Band auch elektronische Elemente hinzufügte. Ihre letzte Veröffentlichung, *Hello, Control*, erschien im Mai 2006. 2007 teilte Myk neue Musik von seinem Soloprojekt *May This House Be Safe From Tigers* auf MySpace. Es wird gemunkelt, dass Brandtson aufgrund mangelnder Interaktion mit den Fans und der erheblichen Verzögerung ihres kommenden Albums zerbrochen ist.
